The fuel light came on as I fetched lunch yesterday, which got me thinking about where to fill up on my way home. hobbleskirt posted about this about a week ago, so I'm reposting this just in case you do care who's pocket your gas money lands in.
If you're willing to care, I'd recommend Citgo. It's a wholly-owned subsidiary of Venezuela's state-owned oil company, so the vast majority of it's product comes from Venezuela (as opposed to, say, Iraq or Saudi Arabia) - and, your money is going to basically feed and support the people of Venezuela (as opposed to lining the pockets of CEOs of, say, Exxon or BP). Checking their info corroborates my choice. =) Citgo imports only 1% of their oil from the Middle East (big whoop). And if I were going for the not supporting of companies that import from the ME, I could go with Shell (who imported nothing the last 6 months from the ME).

*supposedly* shell is also the only major corp to not donate to the GOP
Eh, where exactly is the conflict? Citgo improts the least Middle Eastern oil among major companies - you can look it up in the government's own sites. And Citgo is the only one that's not a major for-profit company run by private interests. So I'm not quite sure what that snopes.com article (which I've seen before) is supposed to contradict. I didn't say the majority of other oil comes from the ME (the article is outdated - SA is #3, below Canada and Mexico). I didn't say boycott the other companies - I only said it may be worthwhile to buy from Citgo.
